The history of the Kielce Philharmonic dates back to 1920, when the symphonic orchestra began its activity. After World War II, as many as 22 of its members became part of the Voivodeship Symphonic Orchestra, which opened its first artistic season on 28 July 1945. The rank of a philharmonic and the name of the Oskar Kolberg State Philharmonic was granted in 1968.

Thirty years later, it received the current name, the Świętokrzyska Philharmonic. Led by Jacek Rogala since 2001, the orchestra makes album and radio recordings, is involved in the education of children and young people, and works with distinguished conductors (such as Kazimierz Kord, Jerzy Maksymiuk and Marek Pijanowski) and soloists (Jeremy Findley, Ingrid Fliter, Andrzej Hiolski, Krzysztof Jakowicz, Kevin Kenner, Zofia Kilanowicz, Konstanty A. Kulka, Mischa Maisky, Wiesław Ochman, Piotr Paleczny, Tomasz Strahl, Wanda Wiłkomirska and Krystian Zimerman). The orchestra has performed in Poland and abroad, among others in the Benelux countries, Germany, Italy, Hungary and South Korea.

The Świętokrzyska Philharmonic is part of the International Centre of Cultures – a multi-function culture-promoting facility which, in addition to regularly held concerts of classical music, also provides audiences with a variety of stage performances of supra-regional importance.
