Green Velo

The museum is housed in the late-Gothic Długosz House, built in the 15^th and rebuilt in the 17^th century, and since 1819 owned by the Congregation of the Mission.

The institution was founded thanks to the initiative of the professors of the local seminary. It owes its final shape to Fr. Józef Rokoszny, an avid lover and collector of art and books. Since 1905, the museum has also provided support for the teaching of art history. The collections include primarily paintings from the 15^th to the 20^th centuries, with such works as Saints Martha, Agnes and Clara (ca. 1440), Lucas Cranach the elder’s Virgin and Child with Saint Catherine of Alexandria (1518-1520), Sacra Conversazione (1492), and Augustyn Mirys’ Portrait of Jan Tarło (18^th century).
