The cycling adventure starts in Janów Podlaski – the town where the famous poet and historian Adam Naruszewicz spent the last years of his life.

The trip starts in Janów Podlaski. Among historic sites in this town, it is worth mentioning the Baroque Church of the Holy Trinity, the building of a former 18th-century seminary, the Palace of Lutsk Bishops with an adjacent park and the Cave of Bishop Adam Naruszewicz – a famous poet and historian, who spent the last years of his life in Janów. On the Janów market square, there is an extraordinary attraction – a petrol station with a manual fuel dispenser produced by the Temper Extaxt company in 1928.

Then the trail leads to Wygoda – a village bordering with Janów. Situated among large meadows and forests in the Bug river area, this place is known around the world for the breeding of purebred Arabian horses. The local horse stud is one of the main attractions of the land. Established in 1817, it is one of the oldest objects of this kind in Europe. A prestigious horse auction Pride of Poland is held here every year.

From Wygoda, the trail leads on partly hard-surfaced roads to the roadway no. 698, on which the Green Velo Eastern Cycling Trail runs. Following its marks, you must arrive at the crossroads with the local road towards Cieleśnica and Rokitno. In the first of the aforementioned villages, there is a 19th-century palace & park complex, which is currently occupied by a hotel and a restaurant; in the second one, you can visit the wooden Church of the Holy Trinity built in 1859.

The next section of the trail run among idyllic landscapes of villages and forests located in the Bug river area. In Klonowica Duża, it is worth noting the historic Church of John the Evangelist, which was erected as an Uniate church in the middle of the 19th century.

The trip ends near the Zaborek Nature Reserve situated close to Janów Podlaski. It is a complex of historic wooden buildings containing a presbytery, a church, a manor house and a windmill. Today the complex functions as a hotel. In order to visit it, contact the personnel of the complex.

Trail option (38 km):

The palace in Cieleśnica is not located on the trail of the trip. In order to reach it, you must go straight at the intersection with the road towards Cieleśnica and Rokitno on the road no 698, on which the Green Velo trail runs. After 1.5 km, turn right onto the road leading to the palace, and then return to the trail of the trip using the road leading through Cieleśnica.

  • Cieleśnica – 14 km
