Museum of Fire-fighting in Oseredek
Museums, ethnographic parks
The Museum of Fire-fighting in Oseredek is an institution of culture run by the commune of Susiec. It is situated in a newly constructed building in the centre of the village and presents a rich set of fire-fighting-related exhibits.
The history of the Museum of Fire-fighting in Oseredek is the history of the retired senior sergeant, Jan Łasocha, who for years held the function of Commander of the Commune Volunteer Fire Brigade Association in Susiec. It was thanks to his great passion, which pushed him to collect and purchase exhibits for decades, that he managed to create a region-unique museum.
Now it serves the local community and tourists visiting the Roztocze region as a place for expanding knowledge of the culture of Polish fire-fighting. The Museum seeks to preserve the material traces of the activities of fire-fighters and influences the creation of people’s attitudes as well as strengthening and development of fire-fighting services.
It allows you to witness how people defended themselves against fire – a man’s ally which helped him to stay alive and achieve ever higher standards of living – which over time became a destructive element.
