Green Velo

The synagogue was built in the picturesque Szczebrzeszyn in the region of Western Roztocze, on the Wieprz River. Dating back to the early 17^th century, the late-Renaissance temple was rebuilt in 1957-1962 and covered with a mansard roof. In 1965, it became the seat of the Municipal Cultural House.

In the auditorium, a stone portal over Aron ha-Kodesh (where the Torah is kept), and other original design elements, such as a decorative strip with arcaded niches, have survived. Currently, monthly exhibitions and concerts are organised inside the synagogue. It is also home to a Tourist Information Point, whose staff can upon request provide access to those wishing to visit the nearby Orthodox church from the 16^th century. Sightseeing of the synagogue and the Orthodox church is free of charge.
