Start:
Terespol, Holy Trinity Church
End:
Terespol, Holy Trinity Church

The trail starts near the parish church of the Holy Trinity in Terespol. However, the most valuable historic site of this small border town is the Orthodox church of St. Apostle John the Theologian built in the 18th century. When in Terespol, you should also note an iron obelisk from 1825 – a memorial commemorating the completed construction of the road from Warsaw to Brest. Then the trail runs to Koroszczyn, where fragments of fortifications of the Brest Fortress have survived. You can also find here the Monument to Independence and the Unknown Soldier, which was erected in 1938. Then the trail leads towards Malowa Góra, where the halfway point of the Green Velo Trail between Elbląg and Końskie is situated. Even from a large distance you can see the neo-Gothic parish church of the Transfiguration located in this village. In the area of Malowa Góra, the trail runs close to the Krzna river. Here, three kilometres in front of the point where the river joins the Bug, begins the most natural section of this peaceful Podlasie river, which is a popular kayaking trail. Passing by the bridge on the Krzna, the trail of the trip leaves the Green Velo Trail and leads west through Berezówka to meet the Green Velo Trail again in Zaczopki. On the roundabout, you should take an exit to Pratulin – the village where the Sanctuary of Blessed Podlasie Martyrs is located. It was here that Russian soldiers killed 13 Uniates who did not agree to the takeover of their temple by the Russian Orthodox Church. These dramatic events happened on 24th January 1874. In place of the church defended by the Uniates, a new church called the Pratulin Martyrium was built a few years ago. In the brick parish church of St. Peter and St. Paul, relics of blessed martyrs are kept. Then the trail leads towards Neple. In this part of the trail, it is worth visiting the small wooden church of St. George in Krzyczewo and an old Uniate cemetery situated in the nearby manor park. It is also worth seeing the nearby Szwajcaria Podlaska (Switzerland of Podlasie) Nature Reserve, which contains valuable protected forest stands covering the steep slopes of the Bug river channel. In order to reach it, follow the educational path starting at the World War II tank monument. The next fragment of the trail runs on the road no. 698, from which, after around 1 km, you must turn right and ride towards Malowa Góra through Mokrany Stare. Here the trail closes the loop, and its last fragment, already known to you, leads to Terespol.
