The trail of the trip leads through the Eastern Borderland areas that have been the melting pot of various religions and cultures for ages; in the past, they were inhabited by Roman Catholics, Greek Catholics and Jews, who lived in peace and harmony. The biggest attractions of the trip are historic monuments in Lubaczów and Wielkie Oczy – an Eastern Borderland town with an unusual history, and the entire journey is accompanied by beautiful landscapes.
The trip starts in the area of the stadium in Lubaczów – the town where Robert Korzeniowski, one of the most famous Polish sportsmen of all time, was born. The climatic multicultural town with a rich history is situated close to the Polish-Ukrainian border. Before setting out, it is worth seeing the most interesting historic monuments and tourist attractions of Lubaczów, including a Greek Catholic church, the town hall, a Jewish cemetery, the Museum of the Eastern Borderlands situated in the former granary, and the ruins of a castle.

The next place on the trail is Opaka – a village located 3 km away from the centre of Lubaczów. The Trail of Icons, which runs south from that point, leads to a settlement with an unusual name: Wielkie Oczy (Big Eyes). According to the local tradition, this name derives from two large ponds that existed here in the past. Full of incredible historic monuments, this small Eastern Borderland town enchants visitors. When you arrive in Wielkie Oczy, you should take a look at the only Orthodox church with a skeleton structure in Poland, which is very neglected today. You can also find here the Sanctuary of Our Lady, Comforter of the Afflicted with a miraculous image of Mary. The coronation ceremony was performed by Pope John Paul II in 1997. Another unusual site worth visiting is the former defence manor house surrounded with bastion fortifications.

From Wielkie Oczy, the trail runs farther along the blue Trail of Icons through Kobylnica Ruska, Tuchla, Miękisz Nowy, Czerniawka, Nowa Grobla and Szczutków, where it closes the loop and leads towards Lubaczów.

Trail option (76 km):
