The Artificial Lake Chańcza
Lakes
Chańcza is a recreational and retention reservoir on the river Czarna (Staszowska), with an area of 340 hectares. It was built between 1974-1984 in the buffer zone of the Cisów-Orłowiny Landscape Park.
The reservoir has a maximum capacity of 40 million m³ of water. The depth of the artificial lake is between 3 and 11 metres. The area around the lake is gently undulating and covered with pine trees. There are good conditions for camping (the surrounding forests are rich in various species of mushrooms), water sports, including windsurfing, and fishing (the waters contain large populations of pikeperch, bream, catfish, bass, carp and grass carp). There are numerous agritourism farms, holiday cottages and campsites in the vicinity.
