The Royal Castle in Sandomierz is located on the castle hill, 200 meters from the Green Velo trail. From the 16th century it was a permanent royal residence. In 1656, two wings of the castle were blown up by the Swedish army. After the reconstruction of the only surviving wing in the 18th century, the castle served, among others, function of the court, and from 1809 to 1959 a prison. After the renovation, which lasted until 1986, the District Museum is located in the castle. In the courtyard there is a monitored parking lot for cyclists and in the display case and at the ticket office you will find up-to-date information about nearby service points and bicycle shops.
