Green Velo

Here, on the border of three countries: Poland, Lithuania and the Kaliningrad Oblast, a decorative granite pyramid may be found with state emblems of 3 neighbouring countries and a signage in each country’s language.

The pyramid is called “Wisztyniec”. It can be easily access by 200-metre (asphalt) pedestrian and bike path which used to serve as a border line between Poland and Lithuania or by a 250-metre local road from the DW 651 platform. The place is open to the public free of charge. The educational trail “Where three borders meet – the Pole of Cold” (information boards with maps in Polish, Lithuanian, English and Russian) runs through the entire section. The rules for moving in the frontier zone are laid down on the board located the closest to the place where borders meet. One needs not to forget that Russia is not a Schengen Member State.
