Bodzentyn
Historical Towns and Villages
Bodzentyn is a tourist destination nestled in the heart of Góry Świętokrzyskie(Holy Cross Mountains). You can see some interesting historical monuments here.
These include the ruins of a castle erected in 1365 together with defence walls by the bishop Florian from Mokrsko, and the Gothic church with the Bodzentyn triptych from the early 16th century, sculpted by the student of Wit Stwosz (Veit Stoss), Marcin Czarny, and an altar from 1546 painted for the Wawel Cathedral. The open-air museum known as Zagroda Czernikiewiczów (Czernikiewicz Homestead) from 1897 is also worth visiting.
