A town established in the 13th century in the southern part of the Świętokrzyskie Mountains, between the Daleszyce range and the Cisów range by the Belnianka River. During WWII it was the area of the most intense partisan activity.
As revenge for one of the partisan troop’s operations, the Germans pacified and burned down the town in August 1944.
