Nowa Słupia is a town located at the foot of Mountain Łysa Góra, in the heart of the Świętokrzyskie Mountains.

The legendary figure of the Świętokrzyski Pilgrim can be seen here, and visitors can tour the Archaeological and Cultural Centre and see the reconstruction of an ancient settlement from the first centuries of our era. A visit to the Centre lets tourists explore the many traditional crafts, rituals and beliefs of the Przeworsk culture. In mid-August, the Dymarki Świętokrzyskie festival is held here, showing the process of iron smelting in traditional bloomery furnaces using a method from 2000 years ago.

The Cultural and Archaeological Center in Nowa Słupia is an area of about 4 hectares located by a stream whose sources are at the foot of Łysa Góra. The objects located here are reflected in the archaeological research and discoveries. They are numerous huts, dugouts where people who smelt iron lived in the times of a thriving metallurgical center in our area. All erected buildings were created with the technique that was used by the then man 2,000 years ago without the use of even a single nail.

The area of the Center is a combination of construction techniques used by barbarian tribes living in our area and military Roman construction. There is no settlement in our country that would be reconstructed with such great determination and consistency, leading to a faithful recreation of a village referring to the Przeworsk culture, on the other hand, presenting the face of the construction of the borderland of the Roman provinces, the so-called limes.

We start our walk around the Center from the barbaric part of the old "Piecowisko". This zone was created on the basis of numerous archaeological research throughout the country and presents both construction and production, defined by archaeologists as the Przeworsk culture. The location of the buildings reconstructed in this place refers to the buildings confirmed by research carried out on numerous settlements of this culture, related to the central and southern part of Poland from around the 3rd century BC to the 4th century AD. All structures created in this zone reflect the construction industry of the first centuries of our era.
