Spanning over 50 km, the Trail of Suburban Residences is quite a long bike trail passing through the localities located south and east of Białystok. With no larger hills along the way, the route is rather easy and well-marked, and it uses mainly paved roads.

The general course of the trail is as follows: Turośń Dolna (0.0 km) - Turośń Kościelna (3.6 km) - Juchnowiec Kościelny (10.6 km) - Zabłudów (26.7 km) - Kamionka, edge of the Knyszyn Forest (37.4 km) - national road no. 65 (43.7 km) - Supraśl (53 km).

The beginning of the route is located in the village of Turośń Dolna, around 15 km away from Białystok, on the road leading to Łapy. From here, the trail continues to the west on varied terrain through fields, meadows and forests, through small localities which once used to be the residences of the Podlasie nobility. It’s from them that the name of the trail comes from. Along the way, the cyclist passes Juchnowiec Kościelny and Zabłudów. Just like the village of departure, Turośń, these two have historical churches. An attraction of the trail are the numerous villages with interesting wooden buildings. Before Zabłudów, you will run into longer, slightly more tiring sections of the trail using dirt roads. From the village of Kamionka, the trail delves into the Knyszyn Forest, which is protected as a landscape park. The trail continues straight to the north on a good-quality paved road, a stretch of almost ten kilometres going entirely via forests. It heads straight to the centre of the charming, historic town of Supraśl. It is worth it to see the complex of the old monastery, which these days is also home to the Museum of Icons, the palace of the factory owner Buchcholtz, who used to own the village, and a few other religious monuments. The atmosphere in Supraśl is truly unique: a quiet frontier town, situated in the heart of a vast forest, on the winding Supraśl River. You can return to Białystok, which is 17 km away, by taking the bike path used by a Green Velo trail.  It is best to both start and finish this trail in Białystok. However, the loop will then be around 85 km long. Dividing the trip into two days is recommended, to have a day for exploring the gems of Supraśl and returning to Białystok.

Points of interest along the trail:

  1. Knyszyn Forest Landscape Park
  2. Supraśl - numerous monuments, layout of the town, traditional architecture, artificial lake
  3. Zabłudów - religious monuments
  4. Juchnowiec Kościelny - religious monuments
  5. Turośń Kościelna - religious monuments

The entire trail is suitable for bicycles with panniers/bike trailers. The trail uses solely roads with no motor vehicle traffic allowed or local roads with a low and very low vehicle traffic; no dangerous intersections. Recreational character.
