This interesting, not very long and rather easy bike trail goes from Lubaczów to a place in the forest called “Płomień” (“Flame”), featuring a chapel and a five-trunk pine tree. The route was marked in green, goes in one direction, and follows good, empty roads, mainly through beautiful forests and fields on the Polish-Ukrainian border. It makes for a good choice for families. Along the trail, you will see pretty sights, numerous shrines and stone crosses. The whole loop, starting from the centre of the town of Lubaczów, is 33 km long. The section running across the town is unmarked.

The general course of the trail is as follows: Dąbrowa, border with Lubaczów (0.0 km) - Majdan Lipowiecki (8.6 km) - chapel on Płomień (12.2 km) - Krowica Sama (17.0 km) - Lisie Jamy (25.8 km) - border with Lubaczów (28.3 km).

Because the route has been marked only in one direction, the ride should take place in the suggested order. The trail starts in the village of Dąbrowa, on the border with the town of Lubaczów, approximately 2 km from the centre of the locality. The first section runs jointly with the yellow trail, on a good asphalt road going across fields, going gently upwards in the direction of the villages of Krowica Lasowa and Majdan Lipowiecki. As you pass the church in Majdan Lipowiecki, you will soon enter the forest with the trail moving slightly uphill all the time. The road surface changes from asphalt to a dirt road, while the forest complex through which the trail passes emanates calmness and tranquillity. On a hill called “Płomień” (Flame), the route meets a Green Velo trail in the vicinity of an extraordinary landmark;

an ancient five-trunk pine tree. It is an important place of religious worship dating back to the 18th century and the divine revelations of the Virgin Mary. From this point on, the green trail turns to the north and runs in the valley of a small brook, meeting the Green Velo trail again ahead of the village of Krowica Sama. The village, whose name Polish people find quite funny, has a few interesting religious monuments. There are two churches here: a traditional, rural wooden church and a brick church richly decorated with sculptures. A stone memorial site together with a wooden cross commemorate an old Orthodox church which no longer exists.  Cyclists in need of rest may find some respite in a large and well-managed park nearby.  Together with the Green Velo trail, the green trail heads to the next village called Krowica Hołodowska. “Krowica” is a popular name in this area, thus alongside Krowica Sama there are also Krowica Lasowa and Wólka Krowicka. Past the cyclist rest stop (MOR), the green trail turns to the west, goes back towards the town of Lubaczów and, more specifically, to the village called Lisie Jamy. On a section that’s around 1.5 km long, the trail shares the road with the trail going in the opposite direction. Once more, the trip finishes on the border with Lubaczów, slightly more than 2 km from the town centre.

Points of interest along the trail:

  1. Lubaczów - local museum of eastern borderlands (Muzeum Kresów), religious monuments, market square
  2. Chapel on Płomień (five-trunk pine tree)
  3. Krowica Sama - religious monuments
  4. Numerous shrines, crosses and churches

The entire trail is suitable for bicycles with panniers/bike trailers. The trail uses solely roads with no motor vehicle traffic allowed or local roads with a low and very low vehicle traffic; no dangerous intersections. The trail makes a perfect choice for families with kids and child bike trailers. Recreational character.
