Klimontów
Historical Towns and Villages
The town was founded in 1604 by Jan Zbigniew Ossoliński. He also founded the late Renaissance monastery of the Dominican Friars, the Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and the Church of St. Hiacynt containing valuable interior decoration (stalls in the chancel, choir, early Baroque altar, decorated vaults).
Another example of interesting architecture is the Collegiate Church of St. Joseph, built on an elliptical plan and covered by a dome. The church, erected by Lawrence Senes, was founded by Jerzy Ossoliński in 1637. The church has a Baroque interior. Klimontów is the birthplace of Bruno Jasieński, a writer of the Polish futurist movement. There is a former synagogue and a former bank building in the vicinity of the Market Square.
