Green Velo

The red bike trail at the top of Pierścienica is a high-performance mountain trail. It was designed for lovers of hardcore MTB cycling, which simply means downhill cycling. This is not a typical single track, but it has such a character. Its length is 2.7 kilometres, and the height difference is about 60 meters. It starts and ends at the bottom station of the ski lift on the slope of Mount Pierścienica, within the city limits of Kielce. The trail is dedicated to experienced cyclists on mountain bikes. The trail is very well signposted. Really few cities in Poland can boast of this type of trail, specific to the mountains. In the case of the city of Kielce, this trail is situated within the city limits, on the recreational grounds of the Leśny Stadium and on the slope of Mount Pierścienica. It is a typical off-road, mountain route, with numerous ascents and descents, and sections full of stones and roots.

Mount Pierścienica is a 367-metre high, forested peak of the Posłowice range surrounding the city of Kielce from the south. Once there was a ski jump here, but now there is a ski slope with a length of 500 meters and a height difference of 58 meters, equipped with a ski lift. The entire area is protected as a landscaped park, and the forests growing on the hill are very wild. The proximity of the Świętokrzyskie Mountains, neighboring directly with a large provincial city such as Kielce, is unusual.

The trail starts and ends at the ski lift, restaurant and hotel. It’s a good place to rest after covering the trail. There is also a bicycle wash and an option to park your bike safely. The route runs about 200 meters next to the Green Velo trail along Aleja na Stadion avenue, then turns uphill into a dirt road. Then the trail goes past a memorial and climbs to the top of the hill, to the upper station of the ski lift. From this place you can see a picturesque panorama of Kielce. Then the trail runs quite steeply uphill, meandering among the trees, on the forest road back to Aleja na Stadion avenue. From the car park and the rest area of ​​the Green Velo route with a stylized bench, the route runs to the starting point.

Not all fragments of the trail are suitable for bicycles with panniers/bike trailers. The trail is run separated from traffic, only safe cycling through public roads, separate bike trails and roads excluded from car traffic, dirt roads, forest roads and others. A trail for lovers of mountain biking and off-road cycling.
